The Daily Record has named Craig D. Roswell, Esq., Niles, Barton & Wilmer, LLP Managing Partner, to its 2023 listing of Leaders in Law.

Craig was nominated to recognize his qualities of dedication to the legal profession, his keen interest in mentoring young lawyers, and his selfless commitment to the community.

Elected as Managing Partner of the Firm in 2013, Craig’s practice includes appellate law, business and corporate law, creditor’s rights and bankruptcy, commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution, complex civil litigation, insurance law, property insurance law, and construction defects claims. He is admitted to practice in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. He has excelled at both the trial and appellate levels of practice, and has been recognized by Chambers USA and Best Lawyers in America® in Insurance Law and Maryland Super Lawyers in Business Litigation since 2008. He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a member of the Trial Law Institute, and is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell, awarded by peer review, for the highest standards of professional skill and ethics.
In addition to leading the Firm, he has recently completed a two-year term as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Law Firm Alliance, a strategic alliance of more than 50 mid-sized law firms constituting approximately 2,500 attorneys in eighteen countries throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia, of which the Firm is a member. Craig shepherded that organization through COVID, even adding four new member firms during his term.
Craig is the current Chair of the Maryland State Ethics Commission, has served on the Maryland State Judicial Nominating Commission, and has also been appointed as a member of the government task force established to study insurance of last resort programs in the state.
A Baltimore native, Craig graduated from Loyola High School and Loyola College, and earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law. His commitment to the community includes work devoted to several local events and charities. He serves on the Board of Directors of the B&O Railroad Museum, the Board of Governors of the Maryland Club, and is Past Board President of St. David’s Day School in Baltimore. .
